Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea approximately fifty miles off the coast of Spain. The island, world renowned for its wine, marble and lead was founded around 650 B.C. Although it has only recently gained popularity as a travel destination, there are plenty of places to visit while vacationing on the island of Ibiza. What are some destinations that a person should make a point to visit?
Es Cana. A person wanting to experience the flare and culture of Ibiza should visit Es Cana. This local marketplace has a number of vendors selling a variety of goods. Vacationers can purchase everything from clothing to handmade jewelry.
Puig des Molins. Thousands of tourists visit Puig des Molins each year. This necropolis located in the village of Punica was deemed a 1999 World Heritage site. It is known for being the final resting place of thousands of citizens and has a number of graves on display that represent different eras in local history including the Roman and Phoenician periods.

C'an Marca Caves. For the adventurous traveler who is also interested in Ibiza's local lore, a trip to the C'an Marca Caves is in order. The caves are over one hundred thousand years old and provide magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea. The C'an Marca Caves were also once known for being the hideout for smugglers trying to bring goods into the Ibiza and Spain.
C'an Ros Ethnological Museum of Ibiza. The C'an Rose Ethnological Museum of Ibiza is located in a restored home in the village of Santa Eualalia. The museum allows visitors to experience the way of life for those living in the rural parts of the island. Tools and handcrafts are on display as well as instruction on various customs and traditions found on the island.
El Mirador. Travelers who like to walk and hike will want to make a trek to El Mirador. This peak is the highest point of Ibiza and offers spectacular views of the islands.
Clubs. Ibiza is fast becoming a popular location for nightlife. Three of the world's infamous nightclubs are located in close proximity on Ibiza. The world's largest club, the Privilege is found in Ibiza as well as the Amnesia and Es Paradis which are known for foam and water parties, respectively.
Archaelogical Museum of Ibiza and Farmeleva. For a taste of natural history, a person should visit the Archaelogical Museum of Ibiza and Farmeleva. This museum was founded in the early 20th century and provides a number of displays of archaeological interest from the prehistoric period to the medieval era.
Sant Carles. A person or family wanting to have more fun in the sun should visit the village of Sant Carles. This village is known for its ample and beautiful beaches as well as its historical church that was constructed in the 1700s.
Puerto San Miguel. The oldest village on the island of Ibiza is Puerto San Miguel. The village's must popular tourist destination is the church fortress that was built in the 1200s.
Las Salinas. This salt flat is located on southern Ibiza. During the summer, the water from the sea evaporates, leaving a significant amount of salt in its place. For over two thousand years, locals have collected, used and sold the salt found in Las Salinas.
